St. Joseph Beauty University is a well-established school that was founded in 1952 by William and Helen Gilchrist. The school has been located at 22nd and Mitchell in St. Joseph, Mo. since July of 1966 and changed ownership in April of 1987 when the school was purchased by Mr. Robbie Robertson.

In July of 2006, Cheryl Cattan purchased the school. Mrs. Cattan also owns and operates the Riviera Tanning Salon and Spa in St. Joseph, Mo. and Cameron, Mo. The name and address of the school has remained the same.

St. Joseph Beauty University boasts a large open clinic floor, a loft classroom, facial and waxing room, and manicure and pedicure areas.

Classes are held Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday from 8:30 to 3:00.

St. Joseph Beauty University is approved for the training of veterans and veterans' children in accordance with the United Stated Department of Veterans Affairs and State Approving Agencies. The school is also approved to accept Vocational Rehabilitation as approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Services are provided to walk-ins and appointments Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.

St. Joseph Beauty University has classes that begin every six weeks. Students must enroll a minimum of two weeks prior to the start of a class to be eligible for that class start.

St. Joseph Beauty University accepts monthly tuition payments after a nominal down payment with a balance due prior to graduation.

COURSE OFFERINGS

Cosmetology - A 1500 clock hour program instructed over a period of 45 weeks.

Instructor Training - A 600 clock hour program instructed over a period of 19 weeks.

Esthetician - A 750 clock hour program instructed over a period of 25 weeks.

Manicuring and Artificial Nails - A 400 clock hour program instructed over a period of 16 weeks.
